About Our Eye Care Team

We are a full service independent locally owned optometry practice. Quality of eye care is very important to us. At our practice you will receive a thorough eye exam. Our optometrist will make sure to rule out eye diseases and educate you as to any concerns see with your eyes during the exam. We believe in educating our patients and answers any and all questions, so that our patients can take ownership of their
eye care. Our priority of quality carries over into our optical where you will find well designed frames and lenses with coating options that will last. Although, we carry name brand glasses, our independence allows us to carry brands in our optical that you won’t see in others. At Gateway Eye Care you will feel worry free and empowered throughout your office visit.

Dr. Joshua Visalli was born and raised in Deerfield. After graduating from Whitesboro High School, he chose to stay local and attend Utica College, where he studied biology and played for the Pioneers football team. Dr. V attended Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. His 4 years of optometry schooling brought him to various eye care settings, including time at a VA hospital, independent optometry practices, and various mixed ophthalmology and optometry practices. Dr. V has been privileged to live in a few states on the east coast while working in different eye care settings for the first 8 years of his career. For his first 2 years of practice, he provided care for pediatric patients only, working alongside a pediatric ophthalmologist. From there, he worked in a large ophthalmology practice near Scranton, PA. His final stop was at a large independent optometry office in Kittery, Maine. Moving home to Utica has allowed Dr. V to use his previous experience and skills to start a new practice serving the areas he has always called home. Dr. Visalli is married to his wife Meghan (also a native of the area) and has a son, Luca. Four-legged friends, Roxy and Thor, complete the family.
